Wrexham’s 3-0 Victory Over Millwall Boosts Economic Prospects and Sponsorships

Must read

In a commanding display, Wrexham secured their first win in the Championship this season, overpowering Millwall with a 3-0 triumph that bolsters their ambitions for promotion to the Premier League. The victory in south London followed a mixed start to the campaign, where Wrexham initially drew against Cardiff and Watford and then faced a home defeat by Birmingham. This latest performance, however, marks a significant turnaround for the team.

The match saw Wrexham take the lead through an unfortunate own goal by Zak Sturge, who accidentally turned Issa Kaboré’s cross into his own net during the first half. The visitors extended their lead shortly after the interval when Kieffer Moore unleashed a powerful shot from approximately 20 yards out, doubling their advantage. Jacques Ekomié sealed the win with a close-range finish, rounding off a decisive victory.

Millwall, on the other hand, faced another setback with this result, having conceded eight goals across their last two matches despite initially starting the season with two consecutive clean sheets. Their difficulties were exacerbated by injuries to key players, striker Josh Coburn and midfielder Casper De Norre, further complicating their efforts to regain form.

In other Championship matches, QPR continued their strong form by defeating Cardiff 2-1 at Loftus Road. Rumarn Burrell was the star for QPR, netting both goals, while Perry Ng managed to score for Cardiff. This victory propelled QPR to a total of 10 points from four matches, maintaining their positive start to the season.

Meanwhile, Burnley and Middlesbrough played to a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor, with Aidan Morris initially giving Middlesbrough the lead in the first half. Burnley’s Ugo Raghouber equalised shortly after the break to ensure the points were shared. Charlton also remained unbeaten, drawing 1-1 with West Brom. West Brom took the lead through Callum Styles, but Tyreece Campbell’s second-half goal secured a point for Charlton.
