Qatar and Egypt have expressed a renewed commitment to enhancing their bilateral ties, focusing on broadening cooperation in key areas such as economics, investment, and labor. During a meeting in Cairo, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani engaged with Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty. This meeting took place alongside the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
The two nations celebrated a significant boost in their economic relationship, noting an 80 percent increase in trade by the year 2025. They also underscored the ongoing growth of Qatari investments within Egypt, highlighting a notable project aimed at producing sustainable aviation fuel in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
Discussions extended to labor and consular cooperation, with both sides examining regional developments and the need for efforts to alleviate tensions while promoting stability. The leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining coordination on issues concerning Gaza and reiterated their support for diplomatic solutions in resolving regional disputes.
Additionally, the conversation between Qatar and Egypt highlighted the crucial importance of preserving maritime security and ensuring freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. Such measures are vital to safeguarding international trade routes and maintaining regional stability.
