Johannesburg residents in several neighborhoods will experience a planned power outage this Saturday, September 26, 2026. The temporary disruption is part of scheduled maintenance efforts aimed at enhancing the reliability of the city’s electricity network.
The outage will specifically impact areas served by the Orlando Switching Station and the Mayfair Substation. At the Orlando Switching Station, power will be off from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Affected zones include Nobel Street, Industria North, Bunsen Street, Slovo Crosby No. 1 and 2, Industria West, Bosmond Maraisburg, Maraisburg Road, Vegr Street Feeder Nos. 1, 2, and 3, and Lowenthal.
Meanwhile, the Mayfair Substation will experience a slightly longer interruption, with power out from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. This will affect the areas of Mayfair, Crown, Amalgam, Amalgam Standby, and Vredepark.
