Spider-Man: Brand New Day has swung into theaters in a spectacular fashion, achieving one of the most successful opening weekends in film history with an estimated global box office haul of $927 million in just four days. This latest Marvel blockbuster, starring Tom Holland, now holds the second-highest worldwide opening ever, surpassed only by Avengers: Endgame, which launched with a staggering $1.2 billion in 2019.
In the domestic market, the film grossed $355 million, coming close to the U.S. opening weekend record of $357.1 million set by Avengers: Endgame. On the international front, Spider-Man: Brand New Day collected $572 million from 66 markets. China led the charge overseas, contributing $121 million, while notable earnings came from the United Kingdom with $49 million, Mexico with $38.3 million, and South Korea with $25 million.
The movie shattered opening weekend records in several countries. India experienced its largest Hollywood opening to date with $31.8 million. France added $26.6 million to the tally, Brazil saw $23.8 million, and Spain contributed $15.6 million, each setting new benchmarks for the Spider-Man franchise in their respective markets.
Surpassing the debut figures of its predecessors, Spider-Man: Brand New Day outperformed Spider-Man: No Way Home, which garnered $600 million globally, and Avengers: Infinity War, which opened with $640 million worldwide. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film picks up four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, following Peter Parker as he navigates life anew after his identity is forgotten by the world. In this installment, he faces a mysterious new threat with the assistance of some unexpected allies.
The film features a star-studded cast including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo. Its record-breaking performance underscores the enduring popularity of the Spider-Man character and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, drawing audiences back to theaters in droves.
